Pottery Wheel Throwing

Marcus Acevedo
Syracuse local, Marcus Acevedo, has a masters in ceramics from Alfred university, and started his art education right here, at Onondaga Community College. He has been working with clay for over 25 years now, and uses primarily stoneware clay, high fired to cone 10(2400F) to make his unique pottery. Most of his wares are handmade from start to finish; mixing all of his own clay and glazes, and firing, from his eclectic home studio, that he shares with his wife, daughter, two pups and a kitten! He is current part time ceramics teacher at LeMoyne College, Marcus shares his wealth of knowledge and expertise with aspiring artists, nurturing the next generation of ceramicists. His goal is to someday own a large studio in which to teach and share his love for the arts, and a legacy to leave for his family’s future generations.
